Faze, eens een drugsdealer en een winnaar van de 'Golden Gloves Boxing
Championship'. Hij is bekeerd, maar dat hij een boxer is geweest hoor
je nog steeds in zijn muziek. Hij boxt tegen de zonden en de
duisternis. Hij laat zich niet zomaar neerhalen, he is 'just tryin ta
stay up'. Zijn muziek neigt naar de East Coast. Zijn texten en
'delivery' zijn ruig, ruw en rouw (soms te vergelijken met Nine).
Diverse taktieken zijn gebruikt om de tegenstander neer te halen, maar
‚‚n van de opvallendste is wel dat Faze live-instrumenten gebruikt.
Faze speelt op diverse tracks zelf electrisch gitaar en er wordt door
anderen ook keyboard, basgitaar, drum en fluit gespeeld. In het nummer
'Bombin On Your Dome' haalt Faze uit met een linkse en laat hij zien
welke skillz hij bezit. In het nummer 'Modern Day Prophet' haalt hij
uit met een rechtse en daar moet je wel aan geloven. Het diepste en
ruigste nummer vind ik 'Just Tryin Ta Stay Up', dit is echt een
rechtse uithaal die je niet kan ontwijken. Een stukje tekst daarvan is
"I see the world is steady fadin' it's enough to make you crazy, I see
mama's on TV killin' their own babies. A tear falls from my eye then I
look up to the sky and ask God why". Het refrein luid zo: "Layin' deep
in the cut watchin' things errupt, you see I'm waitin' to meet my
maker just tryin' ta stay up". Faze gebruikt zijn talent en taktieken
om over de beat te boxen. Faze laat zich van zijn kampioenkant zien en
ik weet zeker dat hij na deze overwinningen in de hemel zijn beloning,
de Golden Gloves, ontvangt.
PS: Van Faze is ook een CD Single te krijgen. Hierop staat het nummer
'Just Tryin Ta Stay Up', zowel het origineel als een instrumentale
versie en het nummer 'Slippin In The Darkness'.

Unfortunatly, the release of this album is delayed until summer. The
good news about it is: it will not be an EP, but a full length album.
Flynn is adding 4 more tracks to 6 tracks that were planned for the EP
(Night after Night, Miss Pioneer, Directions, Miss P (Xanadu Voyage
Mix), Spanish Harlem and Louder).
The album was recorded at Moonsong Studios in Riverside, California
with engineer Bob Moon. The project features the production of and
guest apprearances by B-Twice and Pigeon John of the infamous
Brainwash Projects, Sublingual and Uno Mas of the ever present
Eternals, DJ Coy, and Slerp.

This album is making the critics think twice about Hip Hop because some of
these songs are recorded with a live band, kind of like having a recording
during a jam session. Ajax produces some of the music and Peace586, As
always, produces some too. Super C from SFC appears on this album! This is
another fine Tunnel Rat Production. To be released October 7, 1996. Due to
lack of interest in skilled Christian Music, you might not find this at your
local bookstore, or you might not find it at all. You can order it though.

Picked up Future Shock's record on Wenesday (Oct. 2) and it is
very tight. Production is very different, taking a "ROOTS" route on
some songs with the live thing. Dax ( LPG ) offers some singing
vocals on one song and what can I say, TALENT. At first, some of
the songs seemed very different but they've all already grown on me (
in all the times i've listened to it in the last 5 days ). Everything about
this album is good, from the artwork on the cover to the production,
and of course, the lyrics.
