Divinely assembled in the summer of 1999, three guys from
various parts of the country formed The Remnant, while still
at Morehouse College.
Musical Style
The only consistency in their musical style is quality
music. As they state on their site: A music forged from a
deep camaraderie, a ministry bound by a brotherhood, and a
purpose anchored in El Shaddai, these men sought to fill a
gap between the passionate love of the Divine and the
reckless ways of mankind.
Scripture
Grasping to the promise that the minor can effect the major
and the few can influence the multitude, The Remnant holds
tightly to the scripture Jeremiah 23:3 where through
obedience and sacrifice their numbers might grow.
Dorm room
The Remnant had humble beginnings. Starting out on a Friday
night in a a dorm room using general market computer studio
software and a couple microphones. Hardly the components for
success, but brave-hearted and sure-footed, The Remnant
began to test the waters at local collegiate venues in
Atlanta.
Performing
The reception wasn’t like wildfire, but with each concert a
few more people caught a hold of the vision. Eventually
performing at churches, faith-based programming and local
Festivals, The Remnant began to travel Georgia and the
surrounding states. Holding down full-time academic
schedules and some part-time employment, the music was part
of a juggling act that still managed to produce
overwhelmingly favorable results.
First Release
This culminated into the release of their first
professionally recorded project entitled Restless Youth in
the summer of 2003 on CaJo International. Featuring
radio-friendly anthems like The Real and feel good classics
like Christian Girl, Restless Youth signified a breakthrough
for the group and their constituents. Receiving much acclaim
from fans, disc jocks, and artists alike, The Remnant was
asked to represent on two nationwide tours spanning across
60 cities and 25 states over the course of three months.
After School
In the spring of 2005, The Remnant geared up for their
second effort entitled After School Special. Instead of
simply building on the foundation of the first album, the
guys decided to expand the groundwork with an independent
record that reflected their growth.
Illness
The crew has taken a blow by the illness of Adam Beane, who
has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2004. Crohn’s
disease is an inflammatory bowel disease, the general name
for diseases that cause swelling in the intestines.
The disease is hard to diagnose and therefore Adam made a
lot of medical bills.
The Genesis Project
ShadowFacts Records is about to release "The Genesis
Project" in 2006. This compilation album will feature many
known holy hip hop artists to raise money to relieve Adam's
financial situation.
