| Review: | Lately, there really hasn't been a lot of Christian rap
coming from the Big Apple. I mean, there are a few, but it's
not like I could run down a long list like I could for
Philadelphia. Well, there is one emcee that is holding down
for the NYC by the name of RE:son; he is a member of the
Sphere of Hip-Hop crew LOSPE (Legion of Sub Par Emcees).
This is the review for his debut album "DIEsected."
So, what is this album all about? Well, if you remember
everything that you liked about old school hip-hop and
combine that with a fresh east coast underground sound, you
have RE:son and this album. The beats are pretty underground
in nature but have a distinctive east coast flavor to them,
which is very enjoyable. Lyrically, RE:son is very solid as
an emcee and seems to be pretty laid back on the mic. He has
a strong delivery but he seems to be at ease when delivering
his rhymes, which ultimately results in a very smooth
hip-hop sound. Some of my favorite tracks on the album would
have to include: "One," "Float Your Boat," "Dear Dad" and
"Celophane."
I was captivated by the lyricism and it has that smooth vibe
which isn't very common in hip-hop anymore. From the
production to the vocals, this is a great listen. RE:son has
a solid effort wtih "DIEsected" and I only look forward to
hearing more from him in the future, as well as the rest of
the LOSPE crew.
