Releases: | [Streetcurb Storytales and Nightlife Nightmares] [Heart of Worship] [Only Human] [The 5th Element] [Witnessed From The 6th Floor] | Lyrics: | Found 6 lyrics at BusyR.com Lyrics Archive. | Info: | David ”MC Psalmist“ Liciaga was born on April 27, 1981 as
the popularity of rap music and Hip Hop culture was on the
sharp incline. New York City birthed him, and Queens borough
raised him through a myriad of tough issues. Through his
childhood and adolescent years, he dealt with demonic
attacks, a fascination with gang culture, lust and
pornography, and multiple accounts of theft; his dedication
to dj'ing, producing and rapping drew him further into a pit
of lies and exposed him to things that desensitized him to
sin; thank God for redemption!
Jesus
MC Psalmist encountered the life altering power of Jesus
Christ at age 16 at a summer youth program. Immediately, he
was delivered from the desire to commit the sins he had
previously become accustomed to; he left his job as a dj and
immersed himself in the word and soon after started a
Christian club at his high school, through which he
evangelized to many of his schoolmates. It was also at age
16 that he began to use his talents of rapping and music
production for the Lord.
Rap
MC Psalmist began to rap with some fellow youth group
members at multiple youth functions and saw many young
people come to the soul saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
His excitement for evangelism grew with every soul saved
underneath his ministry and it became apparent to him that
God wanted to redeem Hip Hop culture.
Performances
MC Psalmist embarked on a campus to campus and city to city
evangelism tour over the next few years and saw hundreds of
young people delivered and saved; he participated and led
many secular CD bonfires, praise and worship, inner city
crusades and deliverance services; he also dedicated himself
to learning how to artfully preach Jesus through a relevant
medium and continues to refine the method to this day.
Ministry
Having released 4 full length albums and 10+ mix tapes, MC
Psalmist has delivered an alternative to the sin sick rap
music of this world to over 25,000 households and has
received hundreds, if not thousands, of testimonies of how
the music has affected lives for the better. MC Psalmist has
also seen hundreds, if not thousands, of people set free
through his evangelistic efforts in the mid-west and east
coast regions of America and hopes to expand the ministry to
a nationwide, if not worldwide, effort shortly. With an
undying effort, he pursues his goal to reach every hood,
barrio, slum and city with salvation through Jesus while
simultaneously challenging those in the faith to a deeper,
more committed relationship with the Lord.
Own Label
The Psalmist runs his own independent record label, Fear of
the Drum Records. Besides managing his label The Psalmist is
a producer as well.
Name
In May 2008 he changed his stage name from "The Psalmist" to
"MC Psalmist" due to trademark issues.

The rapper released his debut album "Witnessed from the 6th
Floor" in 2003. His sophomore recording "The Fifth Element"
was released in February 2005. His most recent project is
"Heart of Worship" (2008). |
