at the age of 14. He is born in Los Angeles, California.
Priest grew up listening to hip hop music. At the age of 12,
he moved to Columbus, Ohio with his family. In Ohio, he
began hearing a new style of music influenced by the
Midwest, which showed him that hip hop was universal and has
many different styles. He began to practice to master the
"flow" - the art of reciting lyrics in a certain way,
until he perfected his own and could rap in any style he was
challenged with. Priest's message is simple: "You don't
have to be corny because you are serving God". The
inspiration for the name High Priest comes from Hebrews
5:1-4. "The name doesn't describe a holier - than thou,
prideful attitude of someone who thinks they have it all
together, but rather that of a man who really loves God and
has a desire to see his people enjoy life" says Priest. |
