Name
The DJ might change his name in DJ Morph. As he says: "I
mean that's what everybody gets at me by anyways, but the
reason I rolled with that on "El Regreso del DJ" (2007) was
simply due to pronunciation, DJ Morph was much easier in
Latin American countries" (February 2008).
Beatmart
Morphiziz met Tod Collins, labelowner of Beatmart
Recordings, while being a DJ for KJ-52. At the Holy Hip-Hop
Awards in 2004 Morphiziz showed him his latest works and a
few months later he worked on the mixtape Best of the
Submissions, Volume 1.
Voting system
For the songs to get submitted to these "Best of" volumes
there was a voting system through polls on the Beatmart
internetsite. This was done for the first two volumes, so
fans could vote for their artists to be "the best of the
submissions".
Volume 3 features
The Best of the Submissions Volume 3 is the first volume
with an enhanced feature. When the album is placed into the
CD-ROM player of the computer, it will give access to
download twelve acappellas and twelve instrumentals from the
mixtape, no password required.
Remix contest
New for Volume 3 was a remix contest, which is organized for
the beatmakers. The acappella used is "Kick That" from Best
of the Submissions : Volume 3 and features the vocals of
Soul P. and Sharp Skills to be used as a basis for a track.
Mixtapes
He also made Soul P's "The Premiere Mixtape" (Beatmart
Recordings) released October 2006. And Willie Will's
"Reflection Mixtape" (Beatmart Recordings) released May
2007. These short mixtapes are free downloads without
artwork or tracklisting to promote the new Beatmart
releases.
KJ-52
DJ Morphiziz worked in January 2006 on the KJ-52 album:
"Remixed" (BEC Recordings, 2006).
Latin America
Since April 2006 the DJ is touring with the Latin American
christian reggaeton artist Funky. About the inspiration for
his Latin flavored album "El Regreso Del DJ" (2007) Morph
says: "Well actually I always had a desire to minister to
Latin America, since I'd been touring with KJ-52 I never had
the opportunity to do so. When Funky was interested in
having me be a part of the team I jumped on. On Best of
Submissions volume 2 and volume 3 I added some latin jawns
to 'em, but now being in the Latin market it facilitated "El
Regreso Del DJ".
Albums
He released a reggaeton/rap album called "El Regreso Del DJ"
in 2007. A new project is the album "International" to be
released in 2008. |
