Obituary
The following is the obituary released by rapper Rob
Hodge:
Friends and peers sound off...
"Let me first say that I am heartbroken on the Passing of
Juan James a.k.a. Enoch. I just talked to Juan 3 weeks ago,
wow. Many don't know but we both went to Simon Gratz High
School in Philadelphia together. I knew him from the streets
of North Philly way before Christian Hip Hop. He was a
genuine brother. Always kept it 100 every time you would see
him. He was a passionate Man of God that was very
transparent. He used to talk to me about the disappointment
he had with the Christian Hip Hop genre. All the slander,
backbiting, hypocrisy and fakeness that has infected the
culture. His pure desire was to truly walk with God and
impact the world. I'm blessed and privileged to say I have
known this Man of God. I issue a challenge to not just to
the Christian Hip Hop community but to us as children of
God. Most of our so-called "beefs" with each other over
various reasons is pure vanity and in the end meaningless. I
pray in the midst of all our many different personalities,
doctrines and backgrounds.... we can keep in focus that
Christ said the "World" will KNOW we belong to Him by the
LOVE we show to each other. Not how many bible verse you
know, what bible school you attended and how on point your
fellowship is in comparison to other churches, but by the
simple attribute of Genuine love for you fellow brother in
Christ. May God bless Juan's wife and family, you have my
prayers. To the whole Cross Movement family I love you and
praying for you as well.
RIP Juan James a.k.a. Enoch.... See you when I get
there....." - Rob Hodge
Obituary CMR
CMR Mourns the Passing of Juan James aka Enock
It's with great sorrow that we must inform you of the
passing of our beloved brother Juan James aka "Enock" - one
of the co-founders of Christian rap group The Cross
Movement. His passing occurred Saturday morning, October 17,
2009 of an apparent but, yet still unconfirmed heart attack.
It is impossible to express our sadness as words fail our
emotions and sentiments. Our prayers and loving support go
out to his entire family and the Cross Movement family as a
whole. Our greatest joy in this time of mourning is that he
knows his God intimately and is in His presence celebrating
our Lord. As our Lord lives, so does "Nock." As details
regarding his going home service are made available, we will
keep you informed. Please pray with us, mourn with us, and
celebrate with us. We've lost our brother presently but, the
Lord is with his son Juan eternally. So you preceded us to
the Lord Nock, we'll proceed with the representin'... see
you soon bro.
Profile
The following is the text of his old biography:
Cross Movement
So Enock, being one of the founding members of the Cross
Movement, is not a newcomer to the rap game. He featured on
Human Emergency (2000), House of representatives (1999), and
Heaven's Mentality (1997) which collectively sold over
160,000 units. After nearly 9 years of being a member of
Cross Movement, Enock resigned and moved to Houston, Texas
to record his first solo project AWEthentic (2003).
Debut album
On AWEthentic, Enock unmasks himself and exposes his life.
"My purpose is to expose the sin and hypocrisy that I
struggled with and to make myself transparent in order to
free others from the guilt and shame of sin." Enock
explains: " When listening to the project, you get more than
a glimpse of the harsh realities that living in sin can lead
to."
Clean
Enock also aims to bring about change in the holy hip hop
music industry by challenging others to unmask themselves
and start living the Christian life versus only talking the
lingo. After traveling the world with Cross Movement and
doing concerts at several churches, Enock realized the need
for artists/ministers to come clean with their lives in
order to help deliver others who struggle.
Label
After Much Luvv Records Enock was signed to PHF
Productions.
Compilations
The MC features on the compilation of PHF Productions
entitled: "7 Times I Fall" (2007).
New project
The MC was working on his new project (2007) titled: The
Return. The album was set for release in 2009.
Last Album
On May 9th, 2009 rapper released a blog regarding his new
album and the christian hip hop scene: "The Return" LP will
give you more insight, but here's a few spoilers of truth
for you to chew on..... As most of you know, I've been
wrestling over the past few years with the whole rap thing.
The end result being, my marriage and family is worth my
investment of time, energy and creativity. There's alot
going on today that we're not paying attention to. If you
don't believe that principalities and powers are at work and
if you don't believe that Satan is still in the business of
deceiving, then we need to start seeking God again, for
real.
One thing that HHH lack is love for one another as
believers. There's so much self promotion and self interest
that its hard to sense the motives of individuals. My
question is how have we loved each other as Christ loved us?
I'm not talking about a love that's superficial or a mutual
love for music. But how do we serve each other minus the
music? I'm afraid as far as our dealings, there's nothing
that seperates us from the world. Think about that,
seriously. then it might just be me.
I question myself as to how am I loving the believers in my
life. I'm not quite pleased with what I'm discovering.
Quality, Rich, Genuine Love is rare among us hhh'ers. It
ought to make us wonder who or what we really worship. You
younger cats may not see the wisdom in what I'm saying, but
I hope it won't take you as long as it took me to see.
The enock myspace will be ending at the end of May [2009].
I'm currently working on a myspace page for my wife and I.
I'll keep you posted when its done.
