Dead Poet Society
He was part of the Dead Poet Society together with DJ Dust.
Dead Poet Society changed into Mars ILL after Soulheir the
Manchild became a member. After Dust's move to Atlanta Rahlo
went solo and thus the BlackSoil Project was born. DJ Level
did most of the production on the album The calm before the
storm.
Debut album
The first full length album is released in 2004 called "The
Calm Before The Storm". His debut album got remixed by DJ
Level in 2005 and is available as a download.
Hurricane relief
Blacksoil released the Hurricane Katrina Relief CD : Live in
2005 to raise funds for the hurricane disaster, which hit
the shores of the United States on the 25th of August
2005.
Loss
The year 2006 was a difficult year for the rapper and his
family. Because Rahlo and his wife lost their daughter
Alyssa Jo Porter, due to her premature birth on July 13,
2006.
As the MC states on January 31, 2007 : "As I look back on
it all, I realize that Alyssa, she was beautiful by the way,
has affected me in a deep and profound way. I think,
somehow, that we're better people for having gone through
it, but I wouldn't want to do it again."
DVD
In January 2007 the Blacksoil Project releases a live DVD,
including a bonus CD, entitled: Live in Concert at the
Indianapolis Music & Arts Festival.
New album
The new release will be an instrumental album entitled "Out
of the Silent Planet". It is inspired by C.S. Lewis' science
fiction trilogy. |
