Releases:[Gutterfly : The Original Soundtrack] [Gutterfly (single)] [Fa' Show (single)] [Spirit in Stone] [Fever / Selector (single)] [Spirit in Stone (pre-release)] [What If It's True (single)] [Head Exercise (single)]
Info:On the edge between positive hip hop and holy hip hop there is the Lifesavas. Existing of:
Marlon Irving - also known as Vursatyl - MC
Solomon David - also known as Jumbo - MC
Ryan Shortell - also kown as Rev. Shines - DJ

Not-Religious
Vursatyl is the only christian member in the group and he states about the group's music: "I try not to use music as a platform for my spirituality," he says. "Lifesavas is not a religious group. Each member of the group has different perspectives on spirituality. Our name often confuses people." Vursatyl's father-a minister as well as a singer and keyboard player-clearly influences the music and life of his son. Or as his son, Vursatyl, puts it, "He's the coolest man on the planet."

Beginnings
Vursatyl and Jumbo the Garbageman, the MCs and heartbeat of Lifesavas, were drawn together by fate and necessity. They first met playing basketball and rippin' freestyling sessions in Portland, Oregon city parks. Working different projects out of the same makeshift studio, their eventual mutual respect for each other led to an explosion of writing and performing songs and routines with Jumbo at the decks.

Last-minute Duo
Jumbo and Vursatyl gained local notoriety by playing a lot of shows as a last-minute duo, thereby becoming known to promoters as, literally, "lifesavers."

DJ
Shortly thereafter, Jumbo's MCing talents came into play when Vursatyl witnessed Jumbo "destroy" another MC at a late night freestyle battle. With the addition of Rev. Shines holding down the turntables, Lifesavas were born.

Nominations
The crew received a nomination for the record "Gutterfly :The Original Soundtrack" (2007) in the category Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the Plug Independant Music Awards 2008.

Albums
They released their first full length album "Spirit in the Stone" on Quannum Projects in 2003.
Their sophomore album "Gutterfly :The Original Soundtrack" is released in 2007.
