Releases: | [The EP] [DJ Essence & J Johnson present : No Excuses! Mixtape Volume 1] [Sound Proof] | Info: | Jaron Sherman Johnson, a native of Philadelphia
Pennsylvania, son of Jarod Sherman Johnson and Sharon
Johnson is J-Silas.
Name
His name is formed by connecting his first two initials with
the name of the biblical character Silas. As the apostle
Paul's partner the name Silas means both to be dedicated
and to request of God.
Illness
After battling type 1 diabetes throughout his youth, a
kidney transplant at the age of 17 and a lifestyle of drugs,
alcohol and "playing" women, J-Silas let God redirect his
life at the age of 19 years old.
Speed of light
J-Silas began his rapping career in his late teens with a
neighbourhood group called Fortune and performed in talent
shows around Philadelphia for about a year. Next he teamed
up to form a christian rap group called Speed of Light.
After about 5 months the first solo pieces saw the light and
he started to perform in local churches.
Albums
He released the album Sound Proof through RockSoul
Entertainment in 2004. Plus he can be heard on the
compilationalbum The Antidote (2004) of RockSoul
Entertainment.
Featured
The MC can also be heard under his new alias J. Johnson with
the tracks "Turn It" and "Special Delivery" on DJ I Rock
Jesus' The Live Show Session Two.
Mixtapes
The MC released the mixtape No Excuses! Volume 1 in 2006
together with DJ Essence. This is the first album under his
"new" artistname J. Johnson. A No Excuses Mixtape Volume 2
will be on it's way as well, this time without DJ Essence. |
