Releases: | [Liberation] [In Conjunction] [The Final Evolution] [The Prequel] [The Burn-Up!] [Introducing Excelsius] | Info: | M. Xavier Marshall residing in Houston, Texas is Excelsius.
He is also a baptist Reverend in Houston and has close
contacts in the world of sports.
Rhymes
Excelsius started rhyming back in 1986. In 1994, the Lord
Jesus intervened by taking his enthusiasm for beats and
rhymes and putting it to use for the advancement of the
Kingdom.
Contract
As a sophomore in college, he gave his life to the Lord and
was moved to rhyme strictly for the Glory of God. In 1999,
God extended favor upon him by ushering in a record contract
with Renaissance Records, where he released his first single
“Holy Ghost Party”.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Excelsius also made the theme song "Rule #1" for 2004 for
the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The FCA is
founded in 1954 and is the largest christian sports
organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local
communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people
to make a difference for Christ.
Chaplain
As a former youth pastor, Reverend Marshall is also
well-versed in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in ways
other than music. He serves as a co-chaplain for the NBA’s
Houston Rockets and is certified to minister in any prison
in Texas.
Ministry
Similarly, Rev. Marshall volunteers as a Director for
M.E.A.T. Ministries, which trains Christians on how to
become effective leaders. Even with those efforts, he still
views hip hop as the ministry with the greatest opportunity
to reach our young people. "I believe that if we tell our
young people not to listen to this, or not to listen to
that, but do not provide viable alternatives, we do them a
disservice. For me, this is a way to bring Jesus to an
audience that in a lot of instances has not been open to
receiving the Truth. A lot of people seem to forget that
music was created for God, by God. I am simply using hip-hop
for its original intention."
First Baptist Church
Rev. Marshall currently serves in full-time ministry at
Houston’s First Baptist Church as the Pastor of New Members.
He’s responsible for discipling new Christians, conducting
baptisms and training individuals to become missionaries.
In addition, he regularly travels all over the country to
proclaim the Good News, often speaking on behalf of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also writes
devotionals for several former and current websites.
Stacey
Rev. Marshall is happily married to the bride of his youth,
Stacey. They are the proud parents of one son, Jaren, and
are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Madison.
Together, they oversee Joined at the Hip Ministries where
the mission is to edify, encourage and enlighten the People
of God.
Concerts
Excelsius has shared the stage with the likes of The Cross
Movement, Corey Red, T-Bone, B.B. Jay, Red Cloud, Tre9,
Trintee 5:7, The Boombox Titans, James Fortune & FIYA, Lil J
Xavier, The Tunnel Rats and many others.

the tactics of the Devil." FCA Camps explains: "Every time
