Are you ready for a phat Christmas? The Cross Movement are
not simply a hip-hop group but have launched Cross Movement
Records and Ministries - pretty impressive, but what's this
like (apart from reviewing this at Easter rather than
Christmas)? Well, we don't get many decent yuletide
offerings that are up to date musically - too often we get
sickly sweet, sugar coated nothings. Fortunately this is
nowhere near that. What we get is quality hip-hop. Standout
cuts are the Cross Movement themselves with 'Wisemen'
which I'm sure you can guess what it's about but you
probably never heard this way. Another impressive cut is
"Tonic" whose style reminds me of Sup The Chemist with
"Happy Birthday To Who" which plays out a scenario of a
rapper in a birthday party with an unnamed birthday boy -
guess who! The music doesn't all sound the same, the raps
are tight and there's not a cliche in sight - do yourself a
favour and try to get hold of this.
