Scott, who reside in Atlanta, Georgia. An anointed gumbo of
hip-hop and poetry, the duo also adds to their flavor, a
dash of reggae and soul.
Start
Since they united in January 2002, Platinum Souls, which
means: One Million Souls for the Kingdom of God, has
embarked on an aggressive journey- to positively impact a
hurting and dying society through their music. They are
highly respected and requested in churches, colleges, and in
the secular arenas, internationally.
Performances
They have shared stages with: CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin,
Mary Mary, DC Talk, Out of Eden, Tonex, Canton Jones, J.
Moss, Nicole C. Mullin, Bone Crusher, Bubba Sparxxx, Clipse,
and Scarface.
Pentagon
And, as if that were not enough, Platinum Souls were also
among a handful of artists chosen to be the first rappers
ever to perform at The United States Pentagon.
Interviewed
Platinum Souls was interviewed by Chuck D (Public Enemy) on
his radio show "On The Real, Off The Record" XM Satellite
Radio Station, Channel 167 on Sunday January 20th, 2008.
As the duo explains: "Chuck asked the right questions, God
gave the right answers. Listeners worldwide got the
opportunity to hear another side of Hip Hop. [...] How did
we get on the air with Chuck D? Favor. In 2004, we met Mr.
Chuck because we shared a stage with him at the University
of Florida. He remembered us, and 4 years later he put us
on. That's God opening doors that no man can close."
Mixtapes
Furthermore, they have infiltrated the airwaves with their
Unexpected Mixes, a series of 7 mix tapes the duo has used
to build anticipation for their upcoming album release.
Videos
The power team filmed their first video in 2006, for the
song: "Til 6 in da Morning". The high-energy party anthem is
the first single released on the groups label: Platinum
Souls, Inc. Records. Directed by hip-hop legend: Christopher
Play Martin, the video received rotation on major networks
such as B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television), The Word
Network and JCTV.
Awards
Due to their unyielding commitment to spreading the gospel,
Platinum Souls has received the following list of honors:
- 2008: YGEA Awards (Youth Gospel Entertainment & Arts
Awards): "Best Hip Hop Group"
- 2006: Atlanta Hip Hop Film Festival: "Video of the Year"
winners (for "Til 6 in da Morning")
- 2005: Featured in the REAL Biblezine, a new Bible (by
Thomas Nelson Publishers) for the urban community
- 2005: Gospel Choice Award nominee
- 2004: Atlanta Urban Legends Showcase winners
- 2004 & 2003: Holy Hip Hop Awards winners
- 2004: Urban Gospel Industry (UGI) winner
- 2004: Whats the Word Magazine winner
- 2002: Silver Mic Award winners (for the best Pizza Hut
jingles of the year).
Nominations
The duo was nominated for:
- 2008: The Gospel Choice Awards Atlanta - Best in Holy Hip
Hop
TV
Furthermore, in March 2006, they made history by being among
one of the first hip hop/ poetry groups ever to appear on
T.B.N. (the Trinity Broadcast Network), as guests on Praise
the Lord, hosted by: CeCe Winans.
Humble
Yet, in the midst of it all, they remain humble and focused
on saving souls. Platinum Souls refuses to forsake their
integrity for success, as too many of the artists they
encounter have done. Instead, they prefer to specialize in
doing great exploits for God, delivering their message with
boldness and authority.
Relationship
Despite the fact that they know their doctrine is not always
accepted, they refuse to dilute it. Even in the clubs, you
will find them saying: J.E.S.U.S. C.H.R.I.S.T.- Jesus
ChristThe Way, The Truth, The Life, has set me free! But,
they are definitely Not About Religion. Instead, they
encourage others to Ride Wit Us, as they promote the
importance of a personal relationship with God, and not the
man-made regulations that are often taught as keys to
salvation.
Church
Platinum Souls is atypical in both the hip-hop and poetry
arenas. They are submitted and serving under the ministry
covering of Pastor Hart Ramsey Sr. Pastor and Founder of
Northview Christian Church in Dothan, Alabama.
Production
Platinum Souls co-produced Rev. Derrick Hill's "Created To
Rule" with Big Ran. The CD is released on October 9th, 2004
and is a blend of Rev. Hill's sermons blended into songs. It
features The Remnant, Red Baron, PK3, Jamal McGhee and Erica
Dawson.
Singles
In September 2007 the duo released the single "Dey Don't
Know". As of December 1st, 2007, "Dey Don't Know" made it's
debut on the Billboard Charts (Billboard.com) in two
categories:
- #11 on the "Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Singles Sales"
- #99 on the "Hot R&B/ Hip-Hop Songs"
Albums
The duo released their first mixtape "Unexpected mixes
Volume 1" in October 2002. After 7 mixtapes Platinum Souls
will release their first full length album entitled "Hybrid"
on Platinum Souls, Inc. Records in 2008. This will also
contain the single "Til 6 in da Morning" (2006).
