| Info: | 4th Avenue Jones is conceived by Ahmed Jones. The band is
based in Los Angeles. The crew consisted of frontman Ahmad
Jones (vocalist/producer), Tim Steward (guitarist/producer),
Tena Jones (vocalist), Albert Parker (bassist), Derrick
Calloway (drummer) and Gailybird (violinist).
Rehearsing
The band is founded by Ahmad Jones in 1997, when rehearsing
at a house, which was located on 4th Avenue and Jefferson in
South Central Los Angeles, hence the name.
Style
Their sound is a blend of hip hop, soul and rock. The
earlier 4th Avenue Jones' albums lean more to the hip hop
side.
Gold
In 2002 they thought to have struck gold with a deal with
recordlabel Interscope. But the label never released the
finished album No plan B : part 2. So the band went
independent again.
Label
With a large fanbase they continue making albums on Ahmed's
own Look Alive label, while teaming up with Gotee
Records.
Compilation
4th Avenue Jones has also contributed the track "Wife 4
Life" for the 2Pac tribute album The Rose That Grew From
Concrete (2000). The songs were based on his poetry.
Marriage
Ahmed and Tena Jones were married, but they seemed to have
divorced after releasing the last 4th Avenue Jones album
"Stereo" (2005). Their marriage lasted 9 years. Source:
