Info: | The inhouse DJ of Gotee Records, DJ Maj released several
successful mixtapes before taking up the microphone himself
as a rapper on the album BoogiRoot in 2005.
Operation
In September 2003 DC Talk's E.R.A.C.E. foundation has
donated 6.000 dollars to fund an operation on DJ Maj's hip.
He suffered a hip injury as a child and was unable to afford
treatment. Maj grew up living with his injury and has walked
with a limp throughout his life. The physical disability was
considered a pre-existing condition by insurance companies,
so Maj was unable to get medical insurance.
Radio
Besides mixtapes for the fans he has also made mixtapes for
radioshows called The Real for Virtual Frequency. With these
pre-produced CD's the radiomaker could fill in an hour's
worth of urban music and include it's own jingles and news.
The shows of course had a Gotee Records heavy playlist.
Virtual Frequency is still producing urban shows for radio
stations.
Touring
While being on tour with Mars ILL and Liquid in 2005 various
pieces of their equipment went missing. DJ Maj says, “On the
morning of Wednesday, August 24th, the 2005 VF tour
discovered various pieces of band/tour equipment was removed
from a parked vehicle & trailer. A limited amount of damages
would be covered by the insurance, but the remainder
depended on the equipment being retrieved by law officers.
Speckled Goats II
The Speckled Goats II compilation is the result of a
relationship formed to raise awareness and support for
efforts of the global relief organization - World Vision.
DJ Maj says: "I'm thankful to these artists for their
contribution to this healing album. My prayer is that it
accomplishes everything we've set out to do both at face
and behind the scenes. We're encouraging everyone to be
the salt of the earth and participate in this effort. We
have been granted the opportunity and responsibility to help
impact lives one child at a time in a practical manner".
