Info:Stephen Wiley is the founder of the holy hip hop scene. For a few years he was the only holy hip hop artist around until the year 1985, when the Rap Sures released Gospel Rap and Michael Peace came with RRRock It Right in 1987. The hip hop artists or crews active in the nineteen eighties are just a few, this would surely change in the nineteen nineties.

Rock bands
Stephen Wiley started out drumming in a few rock bands in the nineteen seventies, but he wanted to be a solo artist. Stephen came to Christ in the end of the seventies and he wanted to reach the youth of Oklahoma with the gospel.

Rap
In the eighties Stephen Wiley would release four albums: Bible Break (1985), Rappin for Jesus (1986), Rap It Up (1988) and Get Real (1989).

Labels
The first Christian labels, that released rap music on a continuous basis were:
Stephen Wiley - Brentwood
Rap Sures - Star Song
Michael Peace - Reunion Records

Praise Center Family Church
The former rapper is now pastor Dr. Stephen L. Wiley, who founded the Praise Center Family Church in Muskogee and Tulsa, Oklahoma, together with his wife Dr. Wiley. The couple has two children: Stefani Renee’ and Andre’ Jackson.

The Fellowship of Holy Hip Hop hosts the 8th Annual Holy Hip Hop Artist Showcase and Music Awards during Holy Hip Hop Week in Atlanta, Georgia, January 18-19, 2008. Stephen Wiley is a 2008 Holy Hip Hop Music Awards Honoree receiving the Ambassador Award.
