Members
In 2008 a new member is welcomed Triune from the
Footsoldiers project (2006). Triune and Propaganda are old
friends and know each other from their High School days. A
comeback to the Tunnel Rats crew is made by Future Shock as
they return to record the album "Build" for 2008. Future
Shock can be heard on the debut album "Experience" (1996).
Debut
Their debut album Exprience in 1996 made a big impression in
the holyhiphop scene and is regarded as a classic by many.
The Tunnel Rats consisted back then of the following
members, the crew Future Shock, LPG (Dax & Jurny Big), Peace
586, Raphi and Zane.
Name
The name Tunnel Rats is taken from the nickname of American
soldiers, who needed to check tunnels on bombs in the
Vietnam War. American troops were active in Vietnam from
1965, until their official withdrawal in 1973. Dax used to
be a "tunnel rat".
Webiste
The old website of the Rats was:
Label
On August 19th, 2008 the End of Earth Records (EOE) label
and Peace586 send out a MySpace bulletin to announce Tunnel
Rats signed a deal with EOE to release a new album in the
end of 2008.
Footsoldiers
A new chapter is being written for the Tunnel Rats in 2005,
when they start a new crew called Footsoldiers. This will
have members who believe and members who do not believe.
Controversy started about the risk of cussing in
Footsoldiers' songs and the integrity of the music itself as
seen in the perspective of what holyhiphop should be. Still
the Tunnel Rats will keep on making music under the banner
of God as Dokument reacted: "Also please know that the
Tunnelrats are seeking the things that the Lord would have
us seek. We are your brothers and sisters in Christ. Please
pray for us even if you don't agree with what moves we are
making." The Tunnel Rats members who participate in this
project are Dert, Propaganda and Raphi. They released their
album "Live This" through Antagonist Records on October
31st, 2006.
Instrumentals
The year 2006 is also the release of Dert's mixtape called
The Seattle Situation : Volume One and contains Tunnelrat
Instrumentals from 2002-2004.
Projects
A new project is in store for the Tunnel Rats named "Build"
on End of Earth Records to be released at the end of 2008.
The album "Build" is formerly known as "Experienced".
