Importance
The initiative of the first magazines in the 1990s are of importance, because it filled a void for the christian hip hop fans and it finally gave full exposure regarding their favourite musical style hip hop, before the christian hip hop internetsites and it's forums would start and take over that function.

Bassic Instinct
The magazine "Bassic Instinct" is probably the first christian hip hop magazine in the United States published by Sprout, Inc. The editor-in-chief and publisher was M.J. Sprout Jr. also known as "The J-Man". Their 3rd issue was released in 1993.

23:4
The publication "23:4 : Official Magazine of the Christian Revolution" is published by Noah Tutak in 1993. As he explains the idea about the magazine, he says: "To publicize the emerging scene of young alternative christianity." As his favourite musical style is hip hop, initially a lot of attention was paid to this form of music, but the magazine expanded quickly to cover punk, hardcore, dance, etc.

Heaven's Hip Hop
One of the first christian hip hop magazine to be published "Heaven's Hip Hop" released by Knolly Williams' Grapetree Records in 1994.

Rap & Roer
In The Netherlands "Rap & Roer" is released by Eye Deeh (Rik Zutphen) in 1996. The magazine was released in black and white. Contributions were made by Eye Deeh and the readers of the magazine, who send in articles. The initiative is of importance, because it gave a voice to the fans, before the internet and it's forums would start and take over that function.

Feed
A new magazine entitled "Feed" was released by Sherice and Nathan Sudds from Canada in 2001 and lasted until issue 10, 2005. The magazine was printed on high quality glossy paper.

Fla.vor Fest
The first annual publication by Flavor Alliance entitled "Flavor Fest" is published during their conference Fla.vor Fest in November 2002. After merging the two publications "Flavor Fest" and "Crossover" into one magazine the name changed into S.O.U.Lmag in 2006.

Elementz of Life
The magazine is first released in May 2004, as "4the Streets". The magazine is more directed towards the spiritual life of the reader, who is part of the urban culture, than publishing articles about music and artist interviews.

U-Zone
Putting the urban lifestyle back on the map is the U-Zone Magazine by the Urban Gospel Alliance, first published in 2005. The magazine has a broad scope on music, so besides hip hop, they are interested in musical styles, like urban contemporary, jazz and reggae.

MicRippaz
MicRippaz is published since 2006. Just as Flavor Fest the magazine is available at major gospel industry events and conferences as well as selected christian music stores.

Our ultimate goal is to help raise successful, spiritually mature youth by encouraging them to meditate on things that are positive, uplifting, and respectful, as well as, entertaining.

Name
The word Exodus is defined as a journey of a large group to escape out of a hostile environment. The book of Exodus narrates the journey of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt into the promise land. Just as God called Moses, we believe He called us to lead the youth/young adults of this world, “the Chosen Generation” out of spiritual death and into the promise land, which is life and that more abundantly.
